Octagonal Sunroom

This unique home is located in rural Hollandale.  The owners requested a single story home and walkout basement, but with a cottage sensibility.

The steep roof, thick columns, prominent dormers, and natural cedar siding with dark green trim accomplish the look.

Outdoor living is enhanced with a variety of options depending on weather: a covered front porch, a screen porch, an octagonal sunroom, a spacious rear deck, or a grade level patio.

Inside, the vaulted ceiling is punctuated by the two front dormers and an eye-catching square window in the gable end.  A centrally located pinwheel staircase defines the kitchen, dining, and sitting area while capturing light and funneling it to the lower level.  This large room is further shaped by closets that flank the entry and soffits over the kitchen cabinets, creating ledges for decorative objects.
