Stone Prairie

This large prairie style home near Mineral Point was designed for an extended family and features a central foyer and grand room flanked on either side by two complete living units.

Cutouts in the front roof porch extension allow light to penetrate the front of the house.  A stunning carved wood door depicting an oak tree was crafted by John Sharp of Mineral Point.  Stone planters add dimension to the courtyard.  Bands of casement windows in the upper third of the stucco wall are accented by a green band.  Around back, a stone veneer foundation grounds the walkout basement, which is nicely shaded by a curved balcony.

The large wood framed screen porch is supported by square columns set on a low stone wall.  A lattice screen hides utilities and storage underneath.  Tim Marr was general contractor and vital partner in this design.
