Woodworking Shop

This multi-purpose outbuilding was constructed a year before the adjacent French Provincial house.  It gave the owners a place to stay on weekends and holidays and allowed them to watch the house go up, and be available for the flurry of questions and endless decisions.

A large 2 bay garage is on the north.  In the middle is an elongated shop, ideal for the woodworking the owner planned to devote his retirement to.  With the encouragement of the general contractor, he built the kitchen cabinets, an office armoire, and the cupola atop the shop.  To the south is a potting shed and open porch, ideal for staging messier projects.

Clad in dark stained board and batten siding, it looks like an agricultural building which has been added onto over time.  It retreats into the landscape, and doesn't upstage the main house.

Built by Rick Hanson of Arena.
