My clients built a new house a few years ago, but after living there found out some things just weren't working. Window sills in the Sunroom were too high, so the lovely view was lost when seated. The adjacent deck was much too small to be useful. And flow between rooms was contricted.
Plans A through E look at different ways to access a new deck, by swapping out windows with doors and/or by closing off some existing doors. Each scheme could improve interior circulation in a different way, and facilitate service from kitchen to outdoor grille.
Instead of one large space, we looked at defined areas for eating, lounging, and cooking. Trellises would help soften edges, while also providing shade, wind protection, greenery, and a place to hang bird feeders. This was a fun project! My clients chose a variation on Plan A.
