Details

Construction details like this eave section and slab section were developed for a new home, and are the core of any project. With a large scale drawing, I am able to communicate my design to the builder, and solve potentially tricky problems of structure, thermal envelope, air barrier, drainage plane, and how materials go together to create a cohesive style.

When the builder or subcontractor understands what's expected, estimating and material ordering is easier and more accurate.  Construction proceeds smoothly.

The labeled drawings are from "Natural Building", a workshop I developed with Bear Paw Design & Construction at the Midwest Renewable Energy Fair in 2014.
