Cottage Bump-out

The family living here overlook the Pine River and the small town of Richland Center....and they love the location.  But an extra bedroom was needed.  My design solution was to enlarge the street facing gable, and bump forward a second, smaller gable for the new bedroom.   The entry door and shed-roofed porch shifted from a cramped hallway to a new foyer in front of the living room.  

New, better proportioned windows, a combination of narrow lap & shingle siding, and crisp white trim in place of dated shutters transform this home from boring Cape Cod to modern cottage.
