Amber Westerman specializes in thoughtfully designed buildings that are energy and resource efficient as well as a delight to live and work in.  Her commitment to a successful relationship with clients and contractors is well known in Southwest Wisconsin where she practices.  She brings talent for good design together with a firm understanding of current and historic construction materials and practices.

Prior to establishing Amber Westerman Design in 1998, she worked as a carpenter, a land surveyor, an estimator & expeditor of building materials, and as an architectural draftsman.  Amber graduated with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Architectural Technology in 1985.  She has designed over 500 new homes, additions, and other building projects in Wisconsin.

Concurrent with her design practice, Amber serves as Chairman of the Dodgeville Historic Preservation Commission.  As Project Director, she produced the popular Walking Tour of Historic Dodgeville booklet.  She is a docent at Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin during tour season, a wonderful excuse to inhabit a truely unique architectural gem.  Business memberships include the Dodgeville Chamber of Commerce, and the Midwest Renewable Energy Association.  See her Blog for links to the workshops she's presented at MREA's annual Energy Fair.

Setting up tents & chairs for the Energy Fair has become an annual ritual.  Her other volunteer work includes the design of the 2007 Habitat for Humanity home in Spring Green, the 2008, 2012, and 2015 Habitat for Humanity homes in Dodgeville, and the relocation of the Floyd School on the grounds of the Iowa County Historical Society She was instrumental in the design of Alley Stage, a new community theater in Mineral Point.

Amber shares her enthusiasm for architecture with students by participating in career education and job shadowing programs.  She enjoys bringing physical form to new ideas and looks for ways to infuse her work with artistic expression.  For a detailed description of services, please see the FAQ section of this website....or just call her at 608-935-9020.
